The Platinum Maple Leaf was minted between 1988 and 2002 by the Royal Canadian Mint. All coins are marked as containing .9995 pure platinum and are offered in 1/20 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz , 1/2 oz and 1 oz denominations.
The Platinum Maple Leaf carries the same designs as the Gold and Silver Maple Leaf coins on both the obverse and reverse. The obverse features a bust of Queen Elizabeth II, this designed changed in 1990 to a mature portrait of the Queen. The national symbol of Canada, the Maple Leaf is depicted on the reverse.
