1838 $5 MS60 NGC – Classic Head

The 1838 $5 is one of the more affordable issues when trying to complete the Classic Head type series. The Classic Head design is notable because the motto “E Pluribus Unum” was omitted from the reverse to more easily distinguish the issue from older, and more valuable, $5 gold pieces. It was also the first $5 gold piece to be minted by the newly formed Charlotte and Dahlonega mints. The 1838 $5 was designed by William Kneass and features a left facing Classic Head Liberty on the obverse, an eagle on the reverse and reeded edges.

For Domestic Members:
Acceptable payment methods include American Express, Discover, Master Card, and Visa. Credit Cards must be issued by domestic banks and items will only be sent to the billing address of the credit card holder.

For International Members:
Acceptable payment methods include cash, wire transfer, personal check, cashier's checks, and bank money orders. Credit Card payments will not be accepted for international orders. Please refer to the User Agreement - item #6 to determine when shipment/delivery will occur.

Shipping and Handling:
Is added to the product and will be paid for by the purchaser. Insurance will be included within this shipping and handling fee for all items over $20.00 in value. Items under $20.00 in value will be shipped US Postal First Class Mail for a charge of $3.75. Items valued between $20.00 and $6500.00 are shipped US Postal Registered/Insured at a charge of $7.50. For items valued over $6500.00, shipping and handling will be evaluated on a per item basis according to weight, value and package size (refer to Item# 5 in the User Agreement). For faster delivery, we offer Federal Express Overnight Shipping to most domestic locations, for a charge of $15.00.
