Wedding season peaked on June 26 this year after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage rights. Shortly after, Dallas County began issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples wanting to tie the knot.
The first pair to be wed that day was 84-year-old couple Jack Evans and George Harris. The couple had been together for 54 years prior to getting married. The ceremony was conducted by a member of their church, Judge Dennise Garcia. Despite being on vacation that day, Garcia went into the courthouse to perform as many weddings as she could.
