  • How to Measure Your Own Ring Size

    May 16, 2016
Though most jewelers can easily resize a ring to make it fit, it is easier to just buy a ring that is already your size. You can have your ring size measured at a jewelry store by a professional, or you can to do it yourself at home. When finding out your ring size, keep in mind that each individual finger is normally a different size, so you will need to measure the finger you want to wear the ring on. Fingers also tend to swell when warm and shrink when cool, so measure your size while your hands are comfortably warm. Ring Size Measurement Steps: Step 1: Start by cutting a thin strip of paper that is long enough to fit around your finger. Use tape to make a paper ring that fits perfectly on your finger. The ring should ...
  • Wedding vs. Engagement Rings: What's the Difference?

    May 13, 2016
Wedding rings and engagement rings are two very important forms of jewelry because these rings are used to commemorate and celebrate a relationship commitment. Though it can be tricky to tell the two types of rings apart, there are a few key differences between them. Some women choose to wear their engagement ring stacked on top of their wedding ring throughout their marriage, while others just wear a wedding ring after they get married. Gemstones Traditionally, an engagement ring contains at least one larger gemston ...

  • Wedding Bells in Dallas County Ring for Same-Sex Couples

    October 9, 2015
Wedding season peaked on June 26 this year after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage rights. Shortly after, Dallas County began issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples wanting to tie the knot. The first pair to be wed that day was 84-year-old couple Jack Evans and George Harris. The couple had been together for 54 years prior to getting married. The ceremony was conducted by a member of their church, Judge Dennise Garcia. Despite being on vacation that day, Garcia went into the courthouse to perform as many weddings as she could. In total, Dallas County issued 170 marriage licenses to same-sex couples in one day. • Carat or Karat?

    September 2, 2015
When searching for jewelry you are sure to come across these two words—carat and karat. One measures weight and the other purity. Knowing the meanings behind both words may help inform your next jewelry purchase. Carat vs. Karat Carat is a measure of weight used to describe diamonds and gemstones. For example, when purchasing a diamond engagement ring you may come across rings that feature a 2-carat, 1-carat, or even a 1/2-carat diamond. What the carat really tells you is how much the diamond weighs. (One carat equals 200 milligrams, or the weight of the average raindrop.) When shopping for diamond jewelry, know that carat size not only determines weight but also price. The bigger the diamond, the higher the price. Kar ...

After acquiring a large amount of diamonds and jewelry during that time, Charles Tiffany was dubbed “the king of ...
